Barbara had a massive heart attack at the home of her father near Aurora, NC on July 4, 1991. Her passing was instantaneous and she did not suffer. Barbara was CREMATED in North Carolina & her ashes were transported to Mississippi for burial on July 17, 1991. Her oldest son Jeffery Higdon, a bible student at Freed-Hardeman University at the time, participated in the memorial service prior to burial, with family friend Robert D. Rawson of the Batesville Church of Christ officiating.
