Bette Anne (Dalton) Bloss, 75, of Newburgh, Indiana died Friday, October 10, 2008, at HealthSouth Rehabilitation Hospital.
Bette attended High School at Franklin-Simpson High School in Franklin, Ky., where she was the salutatorian. She graduated from Western Kentucky University majoring in vocal music, in 1954, where she was a Who's Who and was the Baptist Student Union Choir Director, and an ROTC "sponsor." She taught public school music in Louisville, Ky., and private piano lessons in Louisville and Evansville. She moved to Evansville in 1963 and became the Church Pianist at Calvary Baptist Church for 35 years, and interim Music Director for three years. She was the Director of the Senior Adult Choir at Calvary. Bette was a volunteer at Deaconess Hospital, a member of the Garden Club, Vanderburgh County Medical Auxiliary, and the University of Evansville Tip Off Club where she was an avid Aces Basketball fan. She has been the instrumentalist and choir member for the past 14 years at Gateway Baptist Church. In her later years, she was taught how to use a computer by her children and grandchildren and was fondly known by her family and friends as Bette Boop and lovingly known by her grandchildren as Gang-gy and Gigi.
She is survived by her husband of 53½ years, Dr. Bryant Bloss of Newburgh, daughter, Cathy Miller (Greg) of Owensboro, Ky., son, Hal Bloss (Beth) of Evansville, grandchildren, Sarah and Kimber Bloss, Laura and Evan Bryant Miller, sister, Nell Main of Lexington, Ky., and nieces and nephews.
Bette was preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Erma Dalton.
