Officer Timothy Abernaethy was born the fifth of seven children to Mr. Charles and Mrs. Margaret Abernethy, a U.S. Navy family, he grew up in Whidbey Island, Washington. He was shot and killed IN THE LINE OF DUTY serving as a Houston Police Department. He had honorably served the Houston Police Department for the past eleven years and prior to that, he had served his country in the United States Navy for eight years. Tim lost his life while on patrol in the area of W. Tidwell and West Sunforest Drive in northwest Houston. He was a decorated Officer and served with distinction and honor. He was highly respected by his peers and his family was blessed to have had in their lives. He was 43 years of age.Officer Tim Abernethy was survived by his wife, Mrs. Stephanie Abernethy, daughter Olivia Ann Abernethy, and son Timothy Scott Abernethy, Jr. Also, by his parents Mr. Charles and Mrs. Margaret Abernethy, sisters-Evelyn Campbell and husband Doug, and Margaret Ann Salazar and Pete. Also, by brothers Brian Abernethy, David Abernethy and Ganjana, and Phillip Abernethy and Carrie. His extended family included David and Mary Jo Bersagel, John and Ollie Stevens, Theresa Dirker and husband Gary, Sherry Turnbow and Steve as well as Amy and Danny Snow. He was preceded in death by his younger brother, Christopher Jon Abernethy.
