Musician. He was a vocalist, guitarist, songwriter and a founding member of the rock band "The Call". The group formed in Santa Cruz, California, with Been as it's leader and was signed to Mercury Records releasing their self-titled debut album "The Call" in 1982. They went on to produce a total of 10 albums with hits to include "The Walls Came Down", "Everywhere I Go", "I Still Believe" and "Let the Day Begin", which was used by Senator Al Gore as his presidential campaign song in 2000. Been also appeared in Martin Scorsese's "The Last Temptation of Christ" (1988) as the Apostle John and wrote the soundtrack for Paul Schrader's "Light Sleeper" (1992). In 1993, he signed as a solo artist to Qunicy Jones' Qwest Records and released his debut album, "On the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown" (1994). He died of a heart attack while working as sound engineer at the Pukkelpop Festival Hasselt, Belgium.
