"William Hawkins, Sr.
HARBERT -- Fifty-two-year-old William Joseph Hawkins, Sr, of Harbert died at 5:45 am. today in Mercy hospital, Benton Harbor, where he was admitted on Tuesday. Mr. Hawkins had been in ill health for some time.

Mr. Hawkins was born Aug. 9, 1907 in Chicago, and with his family moved to Harbert in 1947. He was a member of St. Agnes Catholic church. Sawyer.

He Is survived by his wife, Aileen, who is The Herald-Press correspondent in Harbert and who also is secretary to Atty. Maurice Weber of St. Joseph.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Hawkins is survived by two sons, William Joseph Hawkins, Jr, of Riverside, Calif, and Walter Timothy, at home; a daughter, Mrs. Kenneth (Mary Ann) Kelly of Grand Rapids; a brother, John D. Hawkins of Phoenix, Ariz.; two sisters, Miss Mary Hawkins of Philadelphia, Pa, and Mrs. L. J. (Ann) O'Rourke of Bridgman, and three grandchildren.

Requiem mass will be offered, at 10 am. Friday in St. Agnes Catholic church. Sawyer. Further funeral arrangements are incomplete.

Friends may call at the Boyd funeral home, Bridgman, beginning Thursday. The rosary will be recited at the funeral home at 8:30 p.m. Thursday." From The Herald-Palladium, July 13, 1960, page 16
