Mr. Ralph Fisher

Mr. Ralph V. Fisher, 75, of Thurmont, passed away Tuesday, August 17, at Washington Hospital Center. He was the husband of Donna F. Fisher, his wife of 50 years. Born Feb. 2, 1929, in Rocky Ridge, he was the son of the late Russell C. and Sylvia J. Crawford Fisher. He owned and operated a dairy farm in Walkersville for over 20 years. He later worked for ASCS in Washington and Allegheny counties, for Ceresville New Holland, and as Frederick County Nutrient Management Consultant until his retirement in 1995.

A graduate of Emmitsburg High School and the University of Maryland, he served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
He was a lifelong member of the Graceham Moravian Church, where he served as elder, Sunday school superintendent, on numerous other committees, and sang in the church choir. He was recently elected president of the Penn-Mar Mission Society of the Moravian Church.

He was actively involved in his community as a member of the Thurmont Lions Club, Edwin C. Creeger American Legion Post, Senior Citizens Association, Farm Bureau, was a Grange member for over 50 years, and other civic organizations. He was a Red Cross Blood donor of over 9 gallons.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Joy Flickinger and husband Charles, Walkersville, Jack Fisher and wife Annie, Bethesda, David Fisher and wife Rhonda, Emmitsburg, Ernest Fisher and wife Judy of Emmitsburg, and Ricky Fisher and wife Marie of Hagerstown; grandchildren, Alan and Jon Flickinger, Thomas, Robert, Eric and Levi Fisher, and Jonathan Engle Fisher; one brother, R. Lee Fisher of Thurmont, and one sister, Doris C. Mercer of Annapolis; and numerous nieces and nephews. He will also be remembered by Robin Fisher, Benjamin Nagy, Jennifer Nagy-McDermott, and husband Matt and son Elijah, and foster children, Hazel Baker and daughter Ann, Ronald Lease Jr., Donna Lease and Darlene Mills. He was preceded in death by brothers, George, Lloyd and Donald Fisher; and sisters, Mae Moser, Ruth Valentine and C. Irene Miller.

The family will receive friends at Stauffer Funeral Home, 104 E. Main St., Thurmont, on Friday, Aug. 27, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 28, at Graceham Moravian Church with his pastor, the Rev. Jeff Gehris officiating, followed by interment in the Graceham Cemetery.
