Mrs. Gladys Jacobson

Mrs. Gladys Jacobson, 84, of Kline Boulevard, Frederick, died Friday, Nov. 8, at the home of her son and daughter-in-law, Karl and Suzanne Jacobson, after a brief struggle with cancer.

She was the wife of the late Nathan Jacobson. Born Dec. 25, 1917, in Baltimore, she was the daughter of the late Samuel L. and Elsie Davis Spielman. She was a graduate of Forest Park High School in Baltimore, and later of Goucher College in Towson. Prior to retirement, she was employed for many years as a social worker and social work supervisor at the Frederick County Department of Social Services.

Mrs. Jacobson greatly enjoyed playing bridge and mahjong with her friends as well as participating in various volunteer and social activities. She was a member of the board of directors of the Frederick County Department of Social Services, the board of directors of Community Living, and a docent at the Historical Society. She was also vice-president of the Beth Sholom Social Club.

She is survived by her children, Karl Jacobson and wife Suzanne of Frederick, and Susan Zuravin and husband Charles of Columbia; and three grandchildren, Kaitlin, Nathan, and Hannah Jacobson.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, Nov. 11, at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick.

Interment United Hebrew Cemetery, 3901 Washington Blvd., Arbutus. The family will hold memorial services and receive friends and relatives at the home of Mrs. Jacobson, 9 Kline Blvd., from the evening of the funeral until 6 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 13.
