Mr. John Griffith

Mr. John William Griffith, 69, formerly of Thurmont, and for the past year a resident of Colton Villa Nursing Home, Hagerstown, died Thursday, Aug. 17, at Washington County Hospital, Hagerstown. Born April 28, 1931, in Washington, he was a son of the late John W. and Louise E. Robertson Griffith Sr. Mr. Griffith was a former member of Apples United Church of Christ, Thurmont. He was a veteran of the Korean War, serving as an air policeman in the U.S. Air Force. He had been employed for many years as an electronics salesman in Washington, D.C. and Bethesda.

Surviving are two daughters, Stephanie L. Travis of Westminster, and Teresa D. Griffith of Killington, Vt.; one sister, Eleanor L. Rickard and husband Glen of Thurmont; two grandsons, Donovan C. Travis and Zachary R. Travis, both of Hedgesville, W.Va.; and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Griffith is at Robert E. Dailey & Son Funeral Home, 615 E. Main St., Thurmont, where the family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 20. Friends may also call from 1 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 21, at the funeral home, with the Rev. Don T. Hammond officiating.

Interment will be in Resthaven Memorial Gardens, Frederick
