Mr. Kenneth Earl Owens

Mr. Kenneth Earl Owens, 63, of Thurmont, MD, died on Wednesday, February 1, 2006 at Washington Hospital Center after a long and courageous battle with lymphoma, leukemia and heart problems. He was the beloved husband of Patricia (Fant) Owens, his wife of 45 years.
Born on December 4, 1942 in Takoma Park, MD, he was the son of Mamie Owens and the late Earl Owens.

Mr. Owens attended Montgomery Blair High School. He was a member of Local 26, I.B.E.W. and for many years employed with Singleton Electric of Gaithersburg. He was a foreman on such notable projects as the Air and Space Museum, Walter Reed Hospital, Blue Plains, Third Street Tunnel and Saint Elizabeth's. His last position was as Quality control Manager at the Pentagon. He had to retire early due to his cancer just before September 11, 2001, where the plane that hit the Pentagon took out his office.

Mr. Owens coached Little League and CYA football for many years, he loved his Redskins, NASCAR and watching his son race. He also enjoyed helping his son with his business, his computer, but most of all cherished his family.

Surviving beside his wife and mother are six children; David E. Owens and wife Lori of Thurmont, Donald Owens and wife Teri of Rocky Ridge, Darren Owens of Rocky Ridge, Nancy Fogle and husband Harold of Woodsboro, Deborah Owens and Brandi Owens at home; seven grandchildren, Holly Owens, Stephen Owens, Derek Owens, Alec Owens, Donald Owens, Haley Owens and Michael Simmons Owens; two brothers, Robert Owens and wife Claudia, James Owens; sister-in-law Lynnette Smith and husband Dennis, nieces Alisa and Allison Smith, nephew Scott Smith all of Houston, Texas; and nephew Christopher Owens and niece Laura Lee Owens. Family will receive friends at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick on Sunday, February 5, from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Services will be held at the funeral home on Monday at 11:00 a.m. with Rev.
