Mr. Hunter was born in Many, La. March 22, 1911. He was the fourth child of Frank and Persia Brown Hunter. He was a resident of Mansfield , La. since 1916 and graduated from Mansfield High school in 1928. He entered Centenary College where he majored in history and Government and was a member of the Kappa Alpha Fraternity. He played on the Centenary Football team from 1928 through 1931. He grauated Cum Laude in 1931 completing his four year curriculum in three years. He attented Louisiana State and entered Law school at Lsu and received his LLB degree and Juris Doctorate in 1935. He began his law practice in 1941 in Mansfield. then he entered the U. S. Navy during World War II. He was commissioned an Ensign during the first year of the war. He served as a gunfire officer of the Naval Gun crews on Merchant Marine ships. He served in the land invasions of Kwajalein, Saipan and Tinan with the 4th Marine Division and he was in command of the Naval Gunfire Range Bombardment at Kahoolawe Hawaii. In 1945 he resumed his law pratice and was actively involved in other community affairs. Mr. Hunter was preceded in death by his first wife, Valare McFatter Hunter, His parents, one sister, and four brothers. He is survived by his wife Bobbie Rogers Hunter, three step sons, six grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
