VIDALIA - Mrs. Minnie Smith Morris, 100, of Vidalia, passed away Friday, June 29, 2007 at her home surrounded by her family and friends. She attributed her long life to loving God, loving people and hard work.

She was a native and lifelong resident of Toombs County, a member of Rocky Creek Baptist Church and the Lyons Senior Citizens Group. She was born September 2, 1906 to Archie Smith and Julia Joiner Smith.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Cleveland Morris, a daughter, Laverne Morris Gay, a granddaughter, Kathy Morris Warren, four sons-in-law, John Lewis Wiggins, Pierce Sowell, Virgil Gay and Herbert Partin.

Mrs. Morris was the last survivor of twelve children, one of which was her identical twin, Mittie Lee Smith NeeSmith who passed away in 1999. She was a housewife and she and her husband farmed for many years. Later they became merchants in the Ponderosa Community until her husband's death in 1975.

She leaves to cherish her memory, four children, Theron (Latha) Morris of Pooler; Meredith Partin of Johnson Corner; Myrle Sowell of Vidalia and Vernon (Joyce) Morris of Port Wentworth, twenty one grandchildren, forty-eight great-grandchildren, thirty-nine great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home starting at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m., Saturday, June 30, 2007 in the chapel of Murchison Funeral Home with Reverend Byron Gay, Reverend Brett Mask and Reverend Archie Morgan officiating.

Interment: Rocky Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
