WATER VALLEY - Sam H. Higdon, 66, retired Baptist minister, died Tuesday at Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi in Oxford. Services will be at 11 a.m. today at Browning Funeral Home with burial in Oak Hill Cemetery. He was a member of North Main United Methodist Church, a Mason and a member of Odd Fellows. He was an Army veteran of World War II and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion.
He leaves his wife, Mary Ellen Higdon; three daughters, Mrs. Debra Overb y of Water Valley, Mrs. Donna Conaway of Pontotoc and Mrs. Lucy Gilley of Dumas, Ark.; three sons, Jessey Higdon and Sam Higdon Jr., both of Water Valley, and Willis Higdon of Conway, Ark.; a sister, Mrs. Elouise McFadden of Trumann, Ark.; three brothers, Earl Higdon and Jimmy Higdon, both of Water Valley, and Robert Higdon of Independence, Iowa, 14 grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
