Son of Alan & Maude Montgomery; Father was a Minnesota State Prison Barber who was mortally wounded during a riot, died a year later; Oldest son; Nickname was 'Bud'; Evidentially settled in Rockford, IL and married Mary Meyers; They had five children (Barbara (Babs), Joan (pronounced Jo-Ann), Francis, Jr. (Butch), Sandra (Sandy) and William (Bill)); WWII Naval Veteran; Avid golfer until unable to golf due to health; Retired from Atwood Vacuum Machine Company in 1976; traveled around the US for several years; settled in Aurora, NC until 1993; also lived in Greenville, SC & Indianapolis, IN.

Memorial Service held at the home of daughter Sandra in Indianapolis, IN, on October 29, 1999. Participating was his youngest brother Bob, who reminisced about his brother 'Bud' and the Montgomery Family History, Grandson-in-Law Bobby Lee, who read a poem and oldest Grandchild Jeffery Higdon, who gave the main eulogy. Also in attendance was another surviving brother, two of his three surviving children (Sandra & Bill), seven out of 17 grandchildren, and 10 out of 21 great-grandchildren, as well as other relatives and friends who knew and loved him.
