After they were married, John & Anna made their home seven miles northwest of Peabody. In 1919 they moved their family to the farm west of Peabody (about 3 miles). In 1920 he was listed as a member of the Marion County Farm Bureau. And was a farmer his whole life.
He was a member of the Peabody Methodist Church and for some years served on the official board. He was also a member of Modern Woodmen.
He died unexpectedly at his home.
