Bert Simpson was born in Oklahoma. He moved his young family to California in 1935. He was married to Bessie Fay Pitts, and they had three children, Vera Claudene, Grace Jeannette, and Neil Burton. He had 10 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and 8 great-great grandchildren. Sadly, Mr. Simpson outlived four of his grandchildren, something that distressed him greatly.
He loved working outdoors, keeping care of the yard and flowers. He loved dogs and cats. One of his favorite treats was ice cream. He really enjoyed going out to eat. When VCR's became all the rage, he insisted that we get one. He enjoyed watching television and movies quite a lot.
In the latter years of his life, kidney disease and heart problems plagued him. Ultimately, he died of prostate cancer.
