Faye Ward was born in Arkansas in 1931. In April of 1957, she married Lee Avants. The two of them had four daughters, Valorie, Renee, Pam, and Mary. They moved to Lompoc in 1966. Lee worked for defense contractors and Faye raised their children and worked as a cook in a hospital. She was active in her church. She succombed to cancer in 2003, after a valiant fight. She was survived by her husband, four daughters, two grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
