My Paternal Grandmother. Born in Marsa, Malta, to Carmelo Spiteri and Katarin Farrugia, Giorgina was the youngest of four children. Marrying the late Emmanuel Bonnici of Cospicua, she mothered two children, and lived since her marriage, at the City of Vittoriosa.

Widowed at an early age, Giorgina was a well known figure among the residents of Vittioriosa, thanks to her jovial character. A small errand just around the corner of her residence, would take her at times a couple of hours; knowing personally most the Vittoriosa residents, many were always happy to stop by for a chat, greeted always by a nice, warm smile from her side.

Giorgina passed suddenly but peacefully away on Thursday, March 10, 2011, at 3 pm., aged 77, shortly after being admitted at the Mater Dei Hospital.

Funeral Mass was said the following day at 2.30 pm., at the Annunciation Church of the Order of Friars Preachers at Vittoriosa, followed by interment inside the Chapel of the Dominican Tertiaries, dedicated to Our Lady of Sorrows and St. Dominic of Guzman, at the Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery, near the Vault which houses the remains of Teresa Parlar († 1927), a Dominican Tertiary and Mystic.
