from the Frederick News, Frederick, MD, July 9, 1900:
Miss F. Genevieve Ebert, East Second street, received a telegram this morning announcing the sudden death last night at 10 o'clock, of her brother, Charles S. Ebert. Mr. Ebert who was the son of the late Valerius Ebert, Esq., of this city, has been engaged in the railroad business for a number of years in different cities in the south and at the time of this death was stationed at Lauderdale, Miss. He was a man of sterling worth and integrity and always commanded the respect and confidence of his employers as well as a large circle of friends and acquaintances. The remains will be brought here for interment in St. John's Cemetery, but word has not yet been received when they will arrive.
Mr. Ebert is survived by a widow, two sisters, Misses Genevieve and Nettie Ebert one brother, Mr. S. Hatch Ebert, and two nieces, Mrs. C.S. Howard and Miss M. Imogen Dorsey of this city.

Note: He was not buried at St. John's Cemetery in Frederick as stated in the newspaper.
