My GGGG Grandfather Moses was the son of John and Mary Ann Miller Mason, and the husband of the former Elizabeth Branner, who died in 1897. He was survived by daughter Margaret Emswiler and sons Jonathan, Daniel, (George) Casper and (Thomas) Rush. Also possibly by his youngest son, Charles, who seems to have vanished. Also survived by many grandchildren, brothers Adam, George and Henry and sisters Elizabeth Frank, Mary Ann Ogg and Catherine Rader.
Moses and Elizabeth lost a lot of children: John in 1854, Sallie, William and Mary in 1863, and Isaac and Moses in 1871.
Moses saw brief service in the Civil War as a private in the 58th Virginia Militia, C.S.A.
He was a skilled wagonmaker.
