H. John "Jack" Reuning, 86 of 27 School Street passed away on Tuesday June 22, 2004 at Jones Memorial Hospital.

He was born on December 17, 1917 in Elmira Heights, NY the son of Henry and Mildred (Rushmore) Reuning.

On July 13, 1946 in Wellsville he Married Louella Weirich who survives.

Jack was raised in Wellsville and along with his brother Bruce operated Reuning's Bakery for 20 year. They were the third generation of the Reuning family to operate the bakery in downtown Wellsville from 1890 to 1966. He later was employed as a tool grinder at Worthington Corporation in Wellsville, retiring in 1979.

He was a life member of the Elks Lodge # 1495 in Wellsville, and honorary life member of the Wood Carving Class in Wellsville. His wood carving collection included 20 cannons, several knives & decorative plates. He enjoyed fishing; fly tying and loved big band music.

Surviving in addition to his wife is 1 son: John Reuning of Wellsville, 1 Brother: Bruce (Virginia) Reuning of Wellsville, 2 sisters: Roberta Rugaber of Fairport and Mary Ellen Perry of Wellsville as well as several nieces & nephews.

Friends are invited to a memorial service on Friday June 25th at 1:00 pm. in the J. W. Embser Sons Funeral Home Inc. in Wellsville with Rev. Ralph Eastlack presiding.

There will be no prior visitation and interment will be in the Woodlawn Cemetery.

Memorial suggestions include the Wellsville Volunteer Ambulance Corps, the SPCA Serving Allegany County or to a charity of the donor's choice.
