As a mere boy he created something of a sensation in New York with his wonderful mastery of the cornet, a gift which afterward made him one of the leading musicians in Croxall's Band, a well-known organization first led by his father. He also played in the Salt Lake Theatre orchestra, of which he was a member for many years. Mark, while taking part in all the musical enterprises of early days in Utah.
Mark was busy in other ways, having been employed in the Deseret Telegraph office and also the office of Z.C.M.I. Later he was a member of the music firm of Careless & Croxall.
