Clarence Franklin Doan, 66, of Danville, passed away at 3:15 p.m. Saturday (March 6, 2004) at his residence.

Services: 1 p.m. Tuesday, March 9, at Pape Memorial Home and Cremation Gardens, 10 E. Williams, Danville; Officiating: Pastor Jay Sorrell and Pastor Louie Doan; Visitation: 5-8 p.m. Monday, March 8, at Pape's; Burial: Oak Hill Cemetery; In lieu of flowers please send memorials to the South Side Church of the Nazarene, 1629 King St., Tilton, IL 61833.

Clarence was born July 19, 1937, in Clinton, Ind., to Clarence Ansel and Mary Ellen Firestone Doan. He attended Clinton, Ind., schools. Served in the U.S. Army and lived in Terre Haute, Ind., for several years. He came to Danville in 1974 and worked for General Motors for 25 years before retiring, then worked for Initial Security at Tee Pak for 10 years. He loved to watch sports, read, fish, and mushroom hunt. He loved the outdoors and his flowers and gardens and was always working out in his yard. Frank loved to go out to breakfast in the morning with his good friends Bill and Judy Oehmke and participate in Flea Markets at Janet's Antiques.

Clarence married Betty May Englert on April 10, 1978, in Danville. She survives.

Survivors include: two sons, Terry Doan of Danville and James "Jay" (Stacy) Tomlinson of Catlin; two daughters, Sherry (Ron) Carter of Colfax, Ind., and Teresa (Guy) Cadle of Danville; four sisters, Alice (Chuck) Gilbert of Clinton, Ind., Vicki, Cathy and Emma, all of Green Cove Springs, Fla.; five brothers, Calvin Lee (Mija) Doan of Elkton, Md., Stan and Tom of Green Cove Springs, Fla., David of St. Augustine, Fla., and Rev. Louie (Sue) Doan of Evans, Ga.; his mother-in-law, Virginia Nungester of Catlin; 16 grandchildren: Tony, Amanda, Jerry, Tiffany, and Ashley Carter, Jessica Kinnard, Terry, Ryan and Brett Doan, Josh and Austin Cadle, Kayla and Lynzie Corzine, Brody, Garrett and Seth Tomlison; four sisters-in-law, Sally (Everett) Powell, Mary Anderson, and Suzie Spicer (Ken), all of Danville. Nancy (Tony) Melecosky of Burksville, Ky.; a brother-in-law, Butch (Linda) Englert of Jamesburg, Ill. His parents, two infant daughters, and two sisters preceded him.
