Dorothy P. Bord, age 90, a devout Catholic, left her home on earth for her home in heaven on Monday, October 12, 2015.
Funeral Services are 11:00 AM Friday, October 16, 2015 at Saints Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Wisconsin Rapids, WI. Rev. Jim Altman will officiate. Visitation will be at Saints Peter & Paul Church on Friday from 10:00-11:00 AM. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery. Ritchay Funeral Home in Wisconsin Rapids, WI is assisting the family.
Dorothy Pauline Walters was born on April 12, 1925, the daughter of Joseph and Rose (Kromenaker) Walters. She grew up in Wisconsin Rapids with her sister Marjorie Walters Van Alstine. Dorothy graduated from Lincoln High School in 1944 and began her career with the Wood County Telephone Company, where she worked for nearly 45 years. Dorothy married Thomas P. Bord on September 23, 1950 and they shared their life together until his death on October 24, 2007.
Dorothy and her husband enjoyed traveling to many countries such as Europe, Germany, Australia, Asia and New Zealand. Dorothy also enjoyed many travels and Red Hat events with her sister, Marjorie. She loved her dogs, shopping with her sister and late husband. Dorothy was a member of the Red Hat Society and Catholic Daughters of America.
Dorothy is survived by her sister, Marjorie Van Alstine; foster daughter, Susan Sorenson; sisters-in-law , Rosa Bord of Campbellsport, WI and Colleen Bord of Wisconsin Rapids, WI; and many loving nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews, who loved spending time with Dorothy and Tom.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church or to cancer research.
