MRS. HOSKINSON IS DEAD.
GRAND RAPIDS— Funeral services
for Mrs. Caroline King Hoskinson,
who died at her home here on
Friday after a long illness, were
held in St. John's church Monday
afternoon. Bishop Weller of Fond
du Lac and the Rev. Rockstroh,
vicar of St. John's, officiated.
Mrs. Hoskinson was born in Green
Bay, April 14, 1838. Her parents,
Dr. and Mrs. D. W. King, settled
there in 1836. At that time Green
Bay was a small town under the
protection of Fort Howard.
Her marriage of George Elmere
Hoskinson, who later founded the
Daily State Gazette, took place on
Aug. 27, 1860, in Green Bay. Their
entire bridal party accompanied
them by boat as far as Fond du Lac,
the nearest railway station in those
days. Ten years of their married
life was passed in Jamaica, West
Indies, where Mr. Hoskinson was
United States consul. For the last
31 years Mrs. Hoskinson was a resident
of Grand Rapids [now Wisconsin Rapids].
