"Artis Partello Misener Edwards passed away on June 1, 2011 in Anderson, SC. She had lived there for five years after moving from Estherville where she was born in 1920, educated and raised a family. Artis was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Vernon Edwards, and her son, Terry Misener. She is survived by daughters Linda Misener Spoerry, Anderson, S.C., and Patricia Edwards Gritton of Tampa, Fla. She also has a grandson, Chris Misener, Vancouver, Wash., and three great grandsons, Avery, Stephen, and Brennen.
Artis worked at the Good Samaritan Center and Sears in Estherville before retiring in 1982. She loved to travel and took many AAA bus trips as well as visiting Alaska and Norway with son, Terry, in more recent years. After retirement she was an active volunteer with the VFW Auxiliary, Emmet County Museum, and Good Samaritan. She loved to play bingo, shop, and read, for which her children are gratefull as she instilled in them a passion for reading. Artis was a longtime member of the Estherville First Presbyterian Church, a 50 year member of Eastern Star, and a 35 year member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary. She will be remembered as spirited, young at heart, feisty and caring.
A celebration of her life and gathering of friends/family will be held in Estherville at a later time."
