Frank I. Brubaker, 78, Box 117, Roaring Spring RR 1, formerly of Carson Valley, died Friday evening, Sept. 12, 1997, at Bon Secours-Holy Family Hospital.
He was born July 16, 1919, in Frankstown Township, the son of George W. and Hattie (Hoover) Brubaker. He married Dorothy M. Helsel Feb. 22, 1942, in Carson Valley. She preceded him in death May 7, 1989. He then married Ethel Pleacher in 1994 in Carson Valley.
Mr. Brubaker was a life member of the Carson Valley Church of the Brethren, where he formerly served as a Sunday school teacher and trustee. He also attended Albright Church of the Brethren, Roaring Spring.
He retired from Car-Val Furniture Co. Inc., in 1995, as president and founder, with 30 years service.
Mr. Brubaker was an Army veteran of World War II, where he served as a technician third grade, Company B, 17th signal operations battalion, serving overseas.
He was a former member and past president of Eldorado Kiwanis Club and a member of the Amputee Association of Blair County.
Surviving are his wife, a son, Michael T. of Altoona; a daughter, Leanna L. Kephart of Scotch Valley; two stepsons, Charles Pleacher of Virginia Beach, VA, and Samuel of Roaring Spring RD; four grandchildren, two step grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at Sorge Funeral Home, Hollidaysburg, Hollidaysburg, and 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Carson Valley Church of the Brethren.
