He was a retired Navy chief, a member of the Benevolent and Protective order of Elks, the VFW and a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association.
He is survived by his three children, Zane Arnold Berthelson of Bozeman, Angel Garcia (Dennis) of Santa Fe, N.M., Kelly Washuta ( Steve) of Tucson, Ariz.; grandchildren, Alicia, Nicole, Joseph, Kurtis and Xander; mother, Ruth Berthelson of Dell; brothers, George Berthelson (Sarah) of Atoka,Tenn., and Ken Berthelson (Sandy) of Dickinson, N.D.; sister, Crystal Geist (Howie) of Lemon, S.D.; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Also Zeke, Zena, and Fergus.
He was preceded in death by his father, Ken A. Berthelson and sister, Joan Berthelson (1941-1973).
A family memorial was held Saturday March 18, in Dell and the ashes will be placed on Mount Dixon when weather permits.
