Dixie was born January 6, 1932, in Palestine, Texas to the late John Birrel Bernard and Maude Salome Gray. She and Roger Kennerly Copeland were married in Palestine on July 19, 1951. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Nadine Boatwright; and brother, J. B. Bernard. Survivors include her husband, Roger Kennerly Copeland; daughter, Vicki and husband Charles Solito; sister-in-law, Margie Bernard; nephew, Mike Bernard; and nieces, Paula Bernard Trigg, and Donna Boatwright Honeycutt.
