My Mother In Law

Lifelong Macomb County resident, Nancy Charlotte Davis of Clinton Township, Michigan passed away Saturday, October 2, 2010 at Mount Clemens Regional Medical Center.

Nancy Bruyer was born on February 9, 1938, in Mount Clemens to the late Frank A. and Hilda (nee Kassube) Bruyer.

On January 30, 1965, Nancy was united in marriage to Frank Davis in Mount Clemens at the historic Grace Episcopal Church. Together they celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary this year.

In Nancy's early working years, she was employed at AAA in the clerical department, moving onto Administrative Assistant for the Base Commander at the former Selfridge Air Force Base, now known as Selfridge Air National Guard Base, and later for SAC in that same role until 1971. She retired in the late 1980's after 13 years as a school librarian for the Clintondale School Systems.

A longtime faithful member of Grace Episcopal Church in Mount Clemens she was active with the Altar Guild, the Fellowship Committee, Woman's League, McRest and Father Bob's Food Shelf until she became too ill to continue.

She was a former member and past secretary of the National Secretaries Association. Among her many interests, she enjoyed playing Bunko, was an avid reader, found pleasure in her garden, tending her roses, sunflowers and in the summer, her favorite geraniums.
She was devoted to her pets, giving them love and care and they in return showed their unconditional love to her. Her cats, Charlie & Oscee, will miss her very much.
She collected dolls of all types and sizes, including her special porcelain bride dolls, and once supplied all the dolls for a Doll Show at Grace Church's 135th Anniversary celebration.

She is survived by her beloved husband Frank, son and daughter in law, John and Kim (Koper) Davis, grandbirds, Rio and Nuri, sister Gloria and her husband Russell Pierce, brother Frank B. and his wife Jacqueline Bruyer, sister in law Ida Mae & her husband Tom Nutt, many nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.

Nancy will be missed by her Koper family at their Christmas Eve Wigilia. She really enjoyed the Polish Family traditions & the foods. She'll be missed at all the other Koper Family dinners & celebrations that were shared when the Kopers & Davis's became one family when Kim & John married. Fortunately, both families truly loved each other & have always gotten along.

She was predeceased by her beloved kitty, Muffy; her parents, Frank A. Bruyer & Hilda Kassube Bruyer; her sister in law & brother in law, Jack Davis & Joan Koppo Davis; her dear mother in law, Amelia M. (Hill) Davis, widow of John Henry Davis, and longtime family friend (Kim's Dad), Irvin Koper.

She was also predeceased by both sets of her grandparents, William Fredrick Kassube & Alice Marie Peters Kassube and Thomas D. Bruyere & Josephine Charrette Bruyere.

She was also predeceased by her great grandparents, Fredericka Saulkow Kassube & Carl Kassube.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 6, 2010 at 11:00 am (instate at 10:30 am) in Grace Episcopal Church, 115 South Main Street, Mount Clemens, Michigan with Pastor Susan Bock officiating.

Burial will be in Clinton Grove Cemetery, Clinton Township, Michigan.

Only "grandchild" Koper Davis.
