Virginia Dorothy Pettengill, 100, formerly of Lebanon, died Thursday in Keizer.

Virginia was born Nov. 8, 1914 in Enumclaw, Washington the daughter of John and Mary Scott. She was raised in Port Angeles, WA and went on to earn a degree as a registered nurse.

Virginia married Orval Pettengill on July 5, 1935 in Cathlamet, WA. They moved to Lebanon in 1953 from Corvallis. Virginia worked as a registered nurse and later as a medical records administrator for Lebanon Community Hospital until retiring. Orval preceded her in death on Feb. 17, 1983. She moved to the Salem area in 1990 to be closer to her daughter.

Virginia was the President of the Oregon Medical Records Association in 1972 and also taught medical terminology at Linn-Benton Community College in 1980's.

Virginia was a member of the Lebanon United Methodist Church. She enjoyed playing the piano and organ at church and loved music.

She is survived by her daughter Audrey Setness and her husband Duane of Salem, 3 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by 2 sisters.

The family would like to thank Gentiva Hospice of Salem and Avamere Court at Keizer for all their care and support.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, August 8, at the Lebanon IOOF Cemetery. Huston-Jost Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
