Premier of Quebec. A native of Beauport, Quebec, Parent graduated from the University of Laval in 1881 with a degree in law. In 1891 he was elected to Quebec's Legislative Assembly representing the Saint-Sauveur district where he served until 1905. In 1897 he was appointed Commissioner of Lands, Forestry, and Fisheries on the cabinet of Quebec Premier Félix-Gabriel Marchand. Following Marchand's death on September 25, 1900, Parent was appointed the 12th Premier of Quebec in his place, serving until 1905 when he was forced to resign. In addition to his Provincial offices, he was elected to serve as Mayor of Quebec City from 1894 until 1906. His sons, Georges and Charles-Eugène, both served as members of the Parliament of Canada.
