It was Clinton who, on June 25, 1901, struck the first oil well in Tulsa County, setting off a boom that made this city the Oil Capital of the World.
It was Clinton who, on Dec. 11, 1915, chartered Tulsa's first real hospital. It was Clinton who, starting on May 31, 1921, and carrying over into the next day, spent 18 straight hours operating on victims of the Tulsa race riot. Some of his co-workers objected -- and even some of the bleeding wounded complained -- but on that night Dr. Clinton accepted white and black patients alike.

He is the son of Charles and Louise Clinton, also buried here. Louise's maiden name is Atkins. He married Jane C. Heard on April 15, 1897.
