Abraham Benjamin Crosby enlisted as a private in the 11th South Carolina Infantry on March 4, 1862, in Appling, Georgia, when he was 28 years old. He was captured by Union forces on 24 Jun 1864 during the Battle of Petersburg and was interned as a prisoner of war on 14 Oct 1864 at Point Lookout, Maryland. He was part of a prisoner exchange on 29 Oct 1864. After the war, he was elected to the Florida state senate from the 15th District.
