U.S. Congressman. After graduating from Dartmouth College New Hampshire, he studied law, was admitted to the bar in 1814 and commenced to practice law in Richmond, Kentucky. He was judge of the Richmond County Court, a member of the Kentucky State House of Representatives, (1824-27, 34), president of the Richmond branch of the State Bank of Kentucky, (1835-43) and a associate judge of the Kentucky Supreme Court, (1843-49). In 1849, he was elected as a Whig to the Thirty-first Congress, serving until 1851. After his term, he again served as president to the Richmond branch of the State Bank of Kentucky, until his death at age 82.
