Jim Clarke (misspelled 'Clark' on his headstone) was a Confederate guerilla who rode with Quantrill in the Civil War. After the war he became an outlaw, though in later years he served as the town marshal in Telluride. He was killed from ambush in the streets of Telluride. Ironically, although he was a Confederate bushwhacker, he is buried in the Grand Army of the Republic section of the cemetery.
