Ernest Burke Jr., 43, of Wapwallopen, Conyngham Township, passed away Monday in Myrtle Beach, S.C. Born in Perth Amboy, N.J., he was a son of Ernest Burke Sr., Swoyersville, and Betty Jane Eckrote Davidson, Myrtle Beach, S.C. He was a 1984 graduate of Lake-Lehman High School and served in the U.S. Army. Ernest was currently working for the Bridon Corporation in Hanover Township. He was very active in the Mountain Top Little League as a coach and volunteer and was an avid Phillies and NASCAR fan. Ernest loved the outdoors and hunting. Preceding him in death were his great-grandparents, Wilson and Laura Eckrote; maternal grandfather, Lester Eckrote, and paternal grandmother, Leona Burke. Surviving, in addition to his parents, are his wife of 20 years, the former Diane Sheraski; sons Adam, Jared, Jason and Cory, all at home; maternal grandmother, Grace Eckrote, Dorrance; step-parents, Mary Jo Burke, Swoyersville, and Ron Davidson, Myrtle Beach, S.C.; a brother, Michael, Scranton; and sisters Jodiann Burgit and husband Brian, Shavertown; and Lisa Nevolas, West Wyoming. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Friday from the McCune Funeral Home, 80 S. Mountain Blvd., Mountain Top. Interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Hanover Township. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to his family.
