Sherdon C. Butz, 59, of Stroudsburg, died Monday morning in his home. He was the husband of Gale (Sullivan) Butz to whom he had been married since November 3, 1962.

Born on February 27, 1939 in Appenzell, he was the son of the late Clyde H. and Vivian A. (Doll) Butz and had lived in the area all of his life. He had worked as a television service man for Sears for seven years until 1969 when he became the owner/operator of Stroud TV and Appliance in Stroudsburg.

A 1957 graduate of Stroudsburg High School, he graduated from the Allentown Electronic Training Center. He was active in the U.S. Army Reserves from 1957 to 1958.

He was a member of the Stroudsburg United Methodist Church and Past president of the Stroudsburg United Methodist Men. He was the institutional representative for the Boy Scouts of America Troop 86 and a member of the Knights of Malta.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons David Butz and his wife Jamie, Dale Butz, and Daniel Butz, all of Stroudsburg; two grandchildren, Emily Butz and Ryan Butz, both of Stroudsburg; a brother, Harold L. Butz of Stroudsburg; and four nephews and one niece.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 8 p.m. in the Stroudsburg United Methodist Church, Main Street, Stroudsburg, with Rev. George S. Rigby, Jr. and Rev. Thomas Anderman officiating. Graveside services will be on Friday at 1 p.m. in the Laurelwood Cemetery, Stroudsburg.

There will be a viewing on Thursday from 1 to 3 p.m. in the William H. Clark Funeral Home, 1003 Main Street, Stroudsburg, and from 6 p.m. until time of service at the Stroudsburg United Methodist Church.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Stroudsburg United Methodist Church, 818 Main Street, Stroudsburg, PA 18360 or to the Lehigh Valley Hospice, 5003 Route 611, Stroudsburg, PA 18360 or to the National Brain Tumor Foundation, 785 Market Street, Suite 1600, San Francisco, CA 94103.
