Murder Victim. On May 10, 1976, Mr. & Mrs. French became parents to a lovely newborn girl named Kristen Dawn. The French family raised their son, daughter Kristen, and beloved dog Sasha in the city of St. Catharines, Ontario. Kristen was sweet, sociable, intelligent, loving young woman. Kristen was athletic; she was an accomplished ice skater, winning several medals with her precision ice skating team. Kristen also loved rowing; she joined and became a valued member of the Holy Cross Secondary School girls rowing team.

Kristen was constantly an Honor Roll student, with a straight "A" grade average. Kristen always was putting the needs of others before herself. Once, a good friend of Kristen had broken her leg. Kristen often lent a helping hand by bringing her friend's Science and French class work home to her. Everyone knew it was in Kristen's good nature to help whom ever she could. Mrs. French affectionately referred to Kristen as, "Sweet, gentle, happy Kristen…the sweetheart of the family."

In death, Kristen's beautiful spirit can still be felt…On May 10, 1992, what should have been Kristen's sixteenth birthday. Her Holy Cross rowing team was trailing in last place, at that point, some rowing team members felt Kristen's spirit. Holy Cross went on to finish in 1st place; Kristen's teammates then presented the medals to Mr. & Mrs. French.

The memory of Kristen Dawn French will never be forgotten. Project Green Ribbon, a task force that helps find missing children was created from The Green Ribbon of Hope Campaign, an awareness crusade organized after Kristen was abducted. In honor of Kristen's memory, a Kristen French Memorial Scholarship is offered to deserving academic students. Several landmark memorials are dedicated in loving memory of Kristen around the St. Catharines area. One memorial fittingly is inscribed, "Kristen Dawn French- Her legacy provides inspiration".
