This precious, beautiful little boy is my cousin, Larry Joe. He was only two years old when he was beaten repeatedly by his Mother and her friends, and those beatings resulted in Larry Joe's death. Although I was a child, I still remember this chubby, blond, smiling angel in our home when my Mother babysat him. Larry Joe was always freshly bathed, powered, and clean diaper when he left at night. However, he would return the next morning wearing same diaper, filled with his waste. His Mother and main murdering friend were sentenced on June 7, 1945 to 1-20 years to Reformatory for Women at Marysville, Ohio. In a bench trial, the judge took the plea of these two murderers to second degree murder, but reduced their charge to first degree manslaughter. "At least three other persons beat the child on various occasions. The cruel and inhuman treatment of this child by the defendants over a period of months before his death is so revolting that one's conscience is shocked to the extent that the rules of law applicable to the case are apt to be overlooked and disregarded. However, it is the court's duty to follow and apply the law dispassionately and impersonally and pronounce the proper degree of crime," said Judge Don R. Thomas. What claptrap!!! All involved deserved prison time, and these two cold blooded murders should have died in prison. His Mother, Margaret Louise Ries Perdue was released from prison, remarried and had a daughter. Margaret died December 19, 1995. I can only hope a higher power is making her pay the ultimate penalty for this baby's untimely, painful death.

Larry Joe is buried across the road from his Grandmother Laura Drake Ries and his uncle - MSGT Richard E. Ries.

Other refuge have I none; hangs my helpless soul on Thee. Leave, ah - leave me not alone, still support and comfort me. All my heart on Thee is stayed; all my help from Thee I bring. Cover my defenseless head with the shadow of Thy wing.
