Dale was born May 13, 1921 in McLeansboro, Illinois the son of the late Wilford and Grace (Griffith) Campbell and was a graduate of McLeansboro High School. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy during WWII. Dale retired as a conductor for L & N Railroad in 1984 after 42 years of service. He was a member of Christian Fellowship Church, Reed Masonic Lodge #316, Hadi Shrine and Kennel Club. Dale was a long-time supporter of University of Evansville. He was made an honorary alumnus, an honorary Trustee and a member of the President's Club. He was a fan of the Aces Men's Basketball Program and a member of the Sixth Man Club for nearly 65 years.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 31 years, Mary (Kiely) (Gooch) Campbell of Evansville; sons, Mike Campbell (Peggy) of Nacogdoches, TX, Phil Campbell (Judy) of Helena, MT, and Jim Campbell (Claudia) of Big Canoe, GA; step-children, Beth Snyder of Noblesville, IN, Robin Norris of Jasper, IN, and Geoff Gooch (Joan) of Carmel, IN; sisters, Dena Sutton and Delma Campbell, both of Evansville; 4 grandchildren, Ann Campbell, Stephen Campbell, Sarah Seabolt, Emily Winkler, and 8 step grandchildren, Courtney Beyers and Kiley Hewson, Kelsey and Reid Norris, Jordan and Josh Snyder, Craig and Chad Thiel, niece, Jana Hughes and nephew, D. A. Sutton.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife of 40 years, Eva June (Murphy) Campbell in 1983, grandson, Jon Campbell, and brother, Doyle (Joyce) Campbell; brother-in-law, John Sutton. -
