Norman R. Brown, 82, of Evansville, passed away Tuesday, January 5, 2010, at River Pointe Health Campus. He was born December 28, 1927, in Anderson, Ind.

Norman graduated from Anderson High School in 1946 and Ball State in 1952. He received his master's degree from Indiana State in 1958 and his counseling certificate in 1982. Norman retired in 1987 after 37 years of service as the Band and Orchestra Director for EVSC. He was the director at Central High School from 1958-1985 and a counselor at Harrison High School from 1985-1987.

He was a member of the Retired Teacher Association, Reed Lodge #316, Scottish Rite, and an active member at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church.

Norman is survived by his wife of 58 years, Phyllis Brown; daughter, Rebecca Prince (James) of Mesa, Arizona; son, David Brown (Jane) or Arden Hills, MN; son, Ronald A. Brown of Evansville; grandchildren, Emily Brown, Justin Brown, Adrienne Prince, and Aaron Brown; twin sister, Norma Jean Brown of Anderson, IN; and niece, Vickie Brown.

Services 10 a.m. Friday, January 8, 2010, at Alexander North Chapel, officiated by Rev. Robert Hetzel. Visitation Thursday January 7 from 2 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Burial in Memorial Park Cemetery in Anderson, IN.
