George was born November 20, 1918 in Milwaukee, WI to Edward C. and Katherine Elizabeth (Leopold) Werner. He served in the Indiana National Guard 39th Field Artillery and in the US Army with the New York National Guard 27th Division, 106th Field Artillery Battery A. George saw action during World War II in Saipan, Tinian and Okinawa. George was a 65 year member of the Reed Masonic Lodge #316, the Scottish Rite and a member of the Keyboard Club. He retired from SIGECO in 1981after 37 years of service at the Warrick County Power Plant and was a member of Methodist Temple since 1986.
He is survived by his daughter and devoted son-in-law, Carol and Clayton Robinson of Elberfeld, IN, who cared for him; grandchildren, Noah and Janie Robinson and children, Kayla, Katelyn and Kyle, and Logan and Beccy Robinson and children, Lukas and Claire and his faithful Lab, Lacey.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife of 55 years, Ruth (Reynolds) Werner in 2001; sisters, Lorraine Strader and Harriet Walker and brothers, Orrin and Sidney Werner.
