Harriet M. Beisser, 85, formerly of 430 N. Highland Avenue, Apt. 34, Plymouth, WI, passed away early Sunday afternoon, July 5, 1998 at Rocky Knoll Health Care Facility in the Town of Plymouth, WI where she had been a resident the last four months.
She was born on July 9, 1912 in Madison, WI, a daughter of the late Harry B. L. and Zella (Carlyle) Gorman.
She attended Madison Area Grade Schools and graduated from Madison East High School in 1931.
On May 30, 1942, she married Calvin Beisser at Christ Presbyterian Church in Madison. The couple lived in Madison after their marriage, prior to moving to Plymouth. Her husband preceded her in death on September 15, 1974. She worked at the Kraft Cheese Co., Plymouth Utilities, Salem United Church of Christ and at Arndt's Restaurant.
Harriet was a member of Salem United Church of Christ in Plymouth, she belonged to the Willing Workers and the Ladies Aid. She had been a Sunday School Teacher and sang in the church women's choir. She also was a member of the Kraft Ladies Chorus. She was a Campfire Leader from 1951 to 1991. She served as leader, council president and secretary. She was also a member of the Kraft Kitchen Band. She was a former member of the Masonic Daughters in Madison. Harriet was an avid sportswoman. She excelled at bowling and at golfing, winning many trophies.
Survivors include one brother-in-law, Reginald Jean, Lewiston, ME; she is also survived by nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by a sister, Jeanne.
Funeral services were held on Thursday, July 9, 1998 at Salem United Church of Christ in Plymouth. Rev. James Hoppert, pastor of the church officiated. Burial took place at Woodlawn Cemetery in Plymouth.
