James Edward "Jim" Ballew was born September 26, 1926 to Gladys W. and James T. Ballew in Florence Kansas. Died peacefully July 24, 2012 at the Tulsa Jewish Retirement Center, Tulsa Oklahoma. Graduated Eldorado High School, 1944. Served in Army Air Corp. WW2 Pacific Theater. Graduated Missouri School of Mines (University of Missouri Rolla) with a degree in civil engineering, December 1950. Moved to Tulsa January 1951. JE earned his first paycheck at the age of 14 from Service Pipeline and worked there until 1969. Following his time at Service Pipeline, his career lead him to become partner in several businesses including Newman Equipment Company, Industrial Tile Company and Dabco Equipment Co., Jim retired in 1989.

His interests included coaching little league for his children, volunteering with his wife Carolyn driving on Meals on Wheels for many years and travel. Jim was a lifelong lover of his children, grandchildren and bulldogs. He was a man of high moral standards which led many to consider him a father figure and advisor. He will be missed by all who knew him.

Proceeded in death by his parents, first wife Margaret Ardeen Helling, 2nd wife Carolyn Granger McDermott, sister Betty Lou Andreson, brother in law Edward Ruebhausen, and brother in law Raymond King. He is survived by a sister Alice Ruebhausen of Tulsa, brother-in-law Neal Andreson of Plainville KS, and sister-in-law Pat King of Tulsa. , Daughter Margaret Ann Bowen of Austin TX, son Mark and wife Susan of Tulsa, daughter Mary Lynn Connelly and husband Gary of Tulsa, son James and wife Vera of Tulsa, son Thomas and wife Patricia of Farmington, NM, and numerous grandchildren, great grandchild and great-great grandchild.

In lieu of flowers donate to Midtown Meals on Wheels.

Viewing will be Friday from 10:00 am -5:00 pm, at Fitzgerald's Ivy Chapel. Rosary will be 7:00 p.m., Friday, and Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, both at Church of the Magdalene.
