She was the daughter of James Morgan and Helenia (Grider) Smith. The first wife of Arthur Bryant, they married on December 23, 1931 in Sano, Kentucky. She and Arthur had seven children, Bernice, Artis, Donnie, Jerry, Jimmie, Michael and Linda.
