My Aunt Rose! How I wish Mom and I could head out on a trip from home to go see Aunt Rose and Uncle Leonard. When my older brother and sister were getting to stay home, I "had" to go with Mom to Illinois. What no one knew but me was that I really liked to go.

Rosa Lee Scales was the 6th child of 13 born to John Austin and Rutha "Ruthie" Belle (Brockman) Bryant. "Rose" married Leonard Scales in June 1914 and settled in Champaign County, Illinois.

They had four children, Grace (b. 1915 Illinois), Elbert F. (b. 1918 Kentucky), Danny D. (b. 1921 Illinois) and Wanda (b. 1933 Illinois).

Her services were held April 21, 1980 at 10 am at the Mahomet United Methodist Church, Mahomet with Rev. John Muir officiating. Arrangements by Blair Funeral Home.

Her memory card:

God hath not promised
Skies always blue,
Flower-strewn pathways
All our lives through;
God hath not promised
Sun without rain,
Joy without sorrow,
Peace without pain.

But God hath promised
Strength for the day,
Rest for the labor,
Light for the way.
Grace for the trials,
Help from above,
Unfailing sympathy
Undying love ...

Oh, Aunt Rose, I found your memory card today. I miss you.
