Thomas Greenbank, who was born near Lewisville, Ohio, this County 71 years ago, and was in early life a leading teacher of this County, died at his late home in Olathe, Colorado, at 8:15 Tuesday morning, May 15, from pneumonia. He leaves a devoted wife, one daughter, four sons, all of Colorado; also one brother, George Greenbank, Sr., of Urbana, Ohio. Deceased was a member of the Christian Church, a strong advocate of temperance, and a truly good man. He was an uncle of Frank, Arthur and Jane Greenbank, of Lewisville, and Mrs. George Weber and O.M. Greenbank of this place. He moved to Colorado about 17 years ago. GREENBANK, Thomas, born 25 Jul 1845 in Lewisville, Monroe, Ohio; received at least a basic education at local schools; enumerated 11 Aug 1870 in Summit, Monroe, Ohio, where he worked as a peddler; married Martha Horton 23 Dec 1875 in Noble County, Ohio; lived in Kansas for a short time before moving about 1876 to West Virginia, where he kept a country store; returned by 1880 to Summit Township, where he worked as a school teacher and a farmer; enumerated 25 Jun 1900 in Marion, Noble, Ohio, where he operated the farm that had belonged to his father-in-law; moved later that year to Montrose County, Colorado, where he did truck farming; member of the Christian Church at Olathe and served many years as a Christian worker in that denomination; said to be a splendid citizen who was well known in the county seat of Montrose and especially devoted to his wife and children; remembered as a wonderful Christian man; died 15 May 1917 in Olathe; interment in Olathe Cemetery.
