Evelyn Marie Osborn was the daughter of Seth Payne and Edna Susan (Greenbank) Osborn. She married Jack Dean Kessinger on September 7, 1947 in Dodge City, KS. They met at a Methodist Youth Fellowship meeting in Manhattan, KS while both were attending Kansas State University and fell in love. Before the meeting, Evelyn told a friend that "she (Evelyn) would meet the man she would marry this evening". And she did.

After moving to Dallas, TX and then Lawrence, KS while Jack attended college, they came to live in the Wichita, KS area around 1952 when Jack got a job at Beech Aircraft. They lived near Mulvane, KS and their children (Mark, Karin, Cathy and James) graduated from the Mulvane High School.

Evelyn went to work for the State of Kansas Social and Rehabilitation Services as a social worker in 1963 and retired in 1987, after 24 years of service. She was an active member of the United Methodist Church and became a Life member. Upon her retirement, she took up the hobby of quilting and made beautiful bed size quilts for her grandchildren. She died of pancreatic cancer.
