William Brenton died last Thursday evening at the home of his daughter, Mrs. J. B. Coots, of Olsburg. Death resulted from cancer of the stomach. He was born at Waveland, Indiana, August 5, 1839, and was therefore 79 years, 1 month and seven days old. He married Lucinda Hogan, April 3, 1864. He is survived by two sons, three daughters, two brothers and one sister. His wife died nine years ago and since that time he has made his home with his daughter in Olsburg. He was a veteran of the Civil War. He enlisted in the army in 1861 and served until discharged for physical disability. He was a member of Company D, 23rd Missouri Regiment.

He united with the Baptist church in early life and his constant christian faith was a great comfort to him. The funeral services were held at the home in Olsburg, Saturday morning, and were conducted by Rev. J. L. Mitchell and Rev. T. W. Henshaw. Interment was in the Laclede cemetery, in which neighborhood he lived during the most of his thirty-five years' residence in Kansas.

William was the son of Robert Brenton and Nancy Towler Brenton.
