Katie Crawford
Obituary
Mrs. Daniel H. (Katie) Crawford was the youngest and last survivor of the seven children of Gabriel and Rebecca Sellers. She was born at Galt, Kansas on the homestead farm which she always held dear in her heart, on February 21, 1886; and passed away at the hospital in Lincoln, Nebraska, on Tuesday, December 19, 1961 at 11:00 o'clock p.m.
On Christmas eve, 1925, she was married to Daniel H. Crawford, here in Little River, with his father, James W. Crawford, officiating. Daniel passed away in August, 1942.
Three daughters were born to Katie and Dan. Edith Ellen, Mrs. Fred N. Glaze of Wichita; Vada Faye, Mrs. Robert Hainline of Joplin, Mo.; and Donna Belle, Mrs. Jack W. Cleavenger of Lincoln, Nebr. Survivors include these three daughters, four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Katie and Dan lived their entire married life at Little River except for one winter which they spent in California.
She was a most devoted wife, and a good mother, loving her nieces and nephews the same as her own children. A Christian member of the Methodist Church, a true friend to many people and a good neighbor. She loved music, and gave music lessons to many children, and was church pianist as well as serving in that capacity for the local chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star, being a charter member of that organization.
"She lives in the hearts she leaves behind."
Funeral services were held in the Methodist Church Friday, December 22, with Rev. Percy L. Perry and Rev. Alvin Smith officiating. Corner Stone Chapter No. 310 was in charge of graveside services. Burial was in Bean cemetery.
